Urban Transportation in Indian Cities

In order to tackle issues related to urban transport, several initiatives have been taken up in India, such as introduction of bus services through the JnNURM bus funding scheme to both mission as well as non mission cities; Bus Rapid Transit systems; Metro Rail Transit systems; involvement of the private sector in bus operations and other infrastructural projects through PPP mode, implementation of reforms such as formulation of Unified Metropolitan Transport Authority, Urban Transport Fund, and formulation of policies such as those relating to parking, advertisements by cities, etc.
